The Interreg IIIB Northern Periphery Programme was developed following successful co-operation through the previous Article 10 programme. The present programme builds on this experience and widens the co-operation further, building on the strengths of the region but also aiming to overcome many of the barriers to the balanced development of the area.
Below are descriptions and links to the most important documents, which highlight the characteristics of the programme area, outline the strategic priorities of the programme, and detail the objectives and outputs which we are striving to achieve.
The Programme Document is the strategic overview of the programme, and provides an analysis of the conditions of the programme area and the strategic objectives of the co-operation. It was approved by the European Commission on the 14th of December 2001.
It is recommended that you read this document if you are considering applying for NPP funds, as it provides useful information on the structure of the programme and how it is managed, as well as descriptions of the objectives, strategies and priorities of the programme.
The Programme Complement is intended to assist prospective applicants and contains a more detailed description of the pre-requisites for implementation of the programme. It was developed by representatives from all of the participating countries and regions, and was approved by the Managing Authority and the Programme Monitoring Committee in March 2002.
It is recommended that you read this document if you are considering applying for NPP funds, as it provides useful information on project types, funding, priorities and measures, and publicity requirements for projects.
The Nordic-Scottish Action Plan was developed as a framework document for the Nordic-Scottish Liaison Group and aims to outline and develop the goals of this group. The group seeks to promote the development of common approaches to shared challenges in the fields of regional policy and sustainable economic development in the Nordic and North Atlantic areas. The co-operation encompasses networking and awareness-raising activities, joint studies or policy papers on issues of common interest and concrete co-operation projects.
