Measure: 1.1
Project Type: PreparatoryThe provision of prehospital sevices (ambulance services) in northern rural areas can be challenging and problems exist, as well as opportunities for improvement. There, therefore, exists a need for better collaboration between actors in this field, in order to look for a model of “best practice” in northern rural areas concerning access, vehicles, transport distances, safety, equipment, competence, economics, effectiveness, etc. There are also possibilities for enhanced cooperation with primary heath care and emergency units in hospitals, in order to optimise transport solutions.
The aim of this preparatory project is to develop an application for a main project within the Interreg III B Northern Periphery Programme. The project aims to lay the foundations for the construction of a larger project that will focus on the different solutions that exist in the various rural areas in the northern periphery. This will involve, in cooperation with other organisations, the Centre for Emergency and Disaster Medicine (AKMC), Sweden and the Health Care Institution, Akureyri, Iceland.
