Project Type: PreparatoryThe main objective of the preparatory project is to establish a trans-national network between the participating regions in order to exchange knowledge in the field of spatial planning and jointly develop a proposal for a collaborative main project which will contribute both to effective integrated spatial planning in the project areas and to the development of a "toolbox", or set of good practices. The participatory development and implementation of integrated management plans will benefit both local communities and the management of public resources. The outcome of the project will also benefit other regions in the northern peripheral area and more widely in Europe.The network's objectives in the preparatory project are to:
- establish a partnership between regions that wants to develop better methods for spatial planning
- jointly formulate an application to the Interreg III B Northern Periphery programme.
The preparatory project will bring together key players from three regions of the northern periphery as partners, to deliver the following results:
- criteria for the selection of project areas;
- preliminary review of policy and planning frameworks and existing management and development plans in the respective project areas and countries;
- development of networks of key stakeholders both within each of the project regions and across the northern periphery;
- establishment of other partners and funders in an NPP main project and potentially also in Finland and Iceland;
- joint development of a proposal for an NPP main project.
Target Area: Sweden, Norway and Scotland. In the main project preliminary also Finland and Iceland.
