BITWON - Bio-Thermal Timber Alternative Technology Network on Innovation and Development

The aim of the project is to prepare a partnership network between Finland, Sweden, Scotland and Norway to enable full utilisation of local SMEs dealing with mechanical timber innovations. The main project proposal will be under a heading of Innovation and Development of Bio-Thermal Timber Alternative Technology Network (BITWON). The project will offer possibilities for outlying areas to produce more equal job opportunities for small and medium enterprises through the application of technology to alternative materials. A further objective of the main project will be to produce natural materials to replace deleterious chemical substances currently being used, which are now being phased-out under EU regulations.

Target Area: North-Savo in Finland and Vesterbotten län in Sweden
