The Northern Periphery Programme 2007-2013 builds on the successes of the INTERREG IIIB Northern Periphery Programme, which ran during the period 2000-2006 and is now being finalised.
Programme Area
The programme area of the NPP 2007-2013 is different from the area under IIIB. The participating countries are Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland (new), Northern Ireland (new), Norway (area extended), Scotland (area extended) and Sweden (area reduced).
Funding
Between 2007 and 2013, the Programme will allocate €45 million to projects, of which €35.115 million in European funding (ERDF) will be available to partners in Member States (Finland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Sweden) and €10.155 for partners in the Non Member States (Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway).
Bridge to the new programme
In December 2006, the IIIB programme held a special application round for preparatory projects with the intention to develop a main application for the Northern Periphery Programme 2007-2013. 15 new preparatory projects were approved, of which many ended up applying during the first call for applications in the new programme period.
