
The INTERREG IIIB Northern Periphery Programme was officially closed by the European Commission on 29th August 2011. All project activities stopped by 30th June 2008. The confirmation of the programme's closure can be found here. Please note that all projects funded by the IIIB NPP are expected to keep their project documentation archived until 29th of August 2014.
The Northern Periphery Programme has completed 11 application rounds so far and has supported 47 main projects. The last steering committee meeting to approve main projects was held on 15 December 2005 in Copenhagen, Denmark. At this meeting, the total amount of funding committed to projects rose to 30.59 million Euros.
In December 2006 the programme closed a special application round focussed on preparatory projects that have a view to developing a main application in the Northern Periphery Programme 2007-2013. 15 new preparatory projects were approved at the meeting and all programme funds were committed. The special round of project extensions will be funded with any re-committed or unused funds returning to the programme.
The total budget for the programme including national co-financing is 55 627 531 Euros, of which the European Regional Development Fund contributes 22.6 Million Euros, Norway contributes 5,5 Million Euros, Iceland 1,57 Million Euros, the Faroe Islands 375 000 Euros and Greenland 378 000 Euros in programme funds.
